Position Summary
The Senior Office Engineer is responsible for providing technical and engineering support from the head office, including design review, project planning, technical documentation, quantity verification, cost estimation, and coordination with site teams, consultants, contractors, and other departments. The position ensures that engineering works are properly planned, technically sound, cost-effective, and delivered in accordance with approved designs, specifications, standards, and company requirements.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
1. Engineering Design & Technical Review
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documents.
- Coordinate architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering requirements.
- Review shop drawings, method statements, material submittals, and technical proposals.
- Identify technical issues and provide practical engineering solutions.
- Ensure designs comply with project specifications and applicable standards.
2. Project Planning & Coordination
- Provide technical support to project and site engineering teams.
- Review project programs, work plans, and technical schedules.
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, suppliers, and project managers.
- Monitor technical progress and provide regular updates to management.
- Support the preparation and review of project work plans and construction methodologies.
3. Quantity Surveying & Cost Support
- Review Bills of Quantities (BOQs), material quantities, and cost estimates.
- Verify quantities against approved drawings and project requirements.
- Prepare material take-offs and technical specifications.
- Review supplier quotations and provide technical recommendations.
- Support tender preparation, evaluation, and contract documentation.
4. Technical Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare technical reports, engineering submissions, and project documentation.
- Maintain proper records of drawings, revisions, approvals, and technical correspondence.
- Review and compile as-built drawings and final project documentation.
- Prepare technical presentations and reports for management when required.
5. Site Technical Support
- Provide technical guidance to site engineers and project teams.
- Review and respond to technical queries and Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Participate in site inspections when required.
- Assist in resolving construction-related technical problems.
- Monitor compliance between site execution and approved designs.
6. Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure engineering works comply with approved designs, specifications, and quality standards.
- Review inspection and testing documentation.
- Identify non-conformities and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, HSE requirements, and company procedures.
7. Software & Engineering Tools
- Prepare and review technical drawings using AutoCAD and other relevant engineering software.
- Utilize Microsoft Office applications for engineering reports, calculations, schedules, and presentations.
- Experience with Revit, Civil 3D, Primavera P6, MS Project, or other engineering/project management software is an advantage.
8. Other Responsibilities
- Coordinate with management and relevant departments on technical matters.
- Provide technical input during project meetings and management reviews.
- Support business development and tendering activities when required.
- Perform any other engineering duties assigned by Management.
About You
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline from a recognized university.
- Professional registration with a recognized engineering body is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 8–10 years of relevant professional engineering experience.
- Strong experience in construction and infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in engineering design review, project coordination, BOQ review, and technical documentation.
- Experience working with contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, engineering standards, and project documentation.
