Position Title: Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Engineer

Reports To: Project Manager

Role Purpose

The HSE Engineer ensures compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental standards across all operations. This role safeguards employees, protects the environment, and supports sustainable business practices.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard identification, and safety audits.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international HSE regulations.
  • Train and mentor employees on safety practices and emergency response.
  • Monitor environmental impact (waste, emissions, resource usage) and propose improvements.
  • Prepare HSE reports and documentation for regulatory authorities.
  • Support ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety culture and environmental sustainability.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Reduction in workplace incidents and accidents.
  • Compliance rate with HSE audits and inspections.
  • Employee participation in safety training programs.
  • Timely submission of regulatory reports.
  • Implementation of sustainability initiatives (waste reduction, energy efficiency).

About You

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of HSE experience in [industry: oil & gas, construction, manufacturing, etc.].
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and local regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead safety initiatives and influence organizational culture.
  • Certification in NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent is an advantage.
