Position Summary
The Concrete Batching Plant Operator runs the automated control systems to mix concrete according to precise technical specifications. This role ensures the continuous, efficient production of concrete while meeting strict quality and safety standards. The operator monitors raw material feeds, batch weights, and equipment performance under the direct supervision of the Concrete Batching Plant Manager.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
· Plant Operations: Operate computerized batching systems to weigh, measure, and mix concrete ingredients accurately.
· Quality Control: Ensure all batches strictly match the approved mix designs and quality standards.
· Material Management: Monitor aggregate, cement, water, and admixture levels during production.
· Truck Coordination: Control the loading sequence of transit mixers to maintain a smooth logistics flow.
· Daily Maintenance: Perform routine pre-start inspections, grease moving parts, and clean the mixing drum and plant site daily.
· Troubleshooting: Identify operational malfunctions early and report equipment faults immediately to the Plant Manager.
· Record Keeping: Print and organize accurate delivery tickets, batch logs, and daily production records.
· Safety & Compliance: Follow all site safety protocols, wear required PPE, and report any hazardous conditions.
About You
Education & Experience
- Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 7+ years of hands-on experience operating computerized concrete batching plants.
- High proficiency in operating automated batching software (e.g., Command Alkon, Liebherr, or similar industry systems).
Skills & Competencies
- Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of concrete mix designs, moisture adjustments, and aggregate properties.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to perform basic mechanical troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in monitoring weight readouts and managing chemical additive dosages.
- Communication: Clear verbal communication skills to coordinate effectively with mixer drivers and dispatch teams.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to work in dusty, noisy outdoor environments and lift up to 25kg when required.
