JUBA, January 16, 2026 — The National Minister of Gender, Child and Social Welfare, Hon. Nuna Rhoda Rudolf Ndefu, conducted a site visit today to oversee progress at the future headquarters of the South Sudan Women’s Social and Economic Empowerment Project (SSWSEEP).
Accompanying the Minister were representatives from the implementing partner, UNOPS, and the project’s construction team, GS Construction Co. Ltd. (a subsidiary of GS Group).
The visit included a technical briefing where the construction team updated the Minister on the status of preliminary site preparations, including demolition old structures and the establishment of on-site facilities. The briefing confirmed that all logistical requirements are being met according to the project timeline. .
The Ministry and stakeholders announced that the official groundbreaking and construction commencement ceremony will be held in the coming weeks, signaling the start of full-scale building works for this landmark facility.
Furthermore, both the Minister and UNOPS expressed their appreciation for the environmentally friendly approach being implemented by GS Construction Co. Ltd. They encouraged the team to maintain these standards throughout the project cycle to ensure completion within the scheduled timeframe.
