Transport Supervisor

Job Summary

The Transport Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring the

movement of company and client cargo, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and timely delivery.

The role oversees drivers, vehicle utilization, route planning, and transport documentation across

border points.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and dispatch trucks based on cargo readiness, client delivery deadlines, and
  • route availability.
  • Monitor vehicle movement from loading points through borders (Nimule) to delivery
  • destinations.
  • Maintain daily transport plans and ensure adherence to timelines and assigned routes.
  • Track vehicle performance, fuel consumption, and maintenance schedules.
  • Report mechanical breakdowns and coordinate with workshop teams for repair and
  • preventive maintenance.
  • Ensure vehicles are equipped with valid insurance, licenses, and travel documents.
  • Maintain vehicle logbooks, GPS tracking reports, and trip records.
  • Assign and supervise drivers, ensuring compliance with company policies and road safety

Regulations.

  • Monitor driver performance, rest times, and discipline.
  • Conduct routine safety briefings and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure all drivers have valid driving permits and border travel documents.
  • Verify and maintain trip manifests, waybills, and delivery notes.
  • Ensure transport documentation complies with customs, traffic, and company regulations.
  • Work closely with clearing and forwarding teams at the border to ensure all shipments are cleared properly.
  • Prepare daily and weekly transport reports (truck positions, deliveries, delays, fuel
  • consumption).
  • Liaise with logistics, warehouse, and operations departments for transport planning and
  • load scheduling.
  • Report any route challenges, delays, or incidents promptly to management.
  • Maintain direct communication with clients and operations offices regarding shipment status
  • Coordinate with customs and clearing agents to facilitate smooth border clearance 

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in transport supervision, preferably in East Africa.
  • Strong understanding of cross-border logistics operations (Kenya–Uganda–South Sudan
  • corridor).
  • Proficiency in MS Office and GPS/fleet tracking software.
  • Excellent communication (English required; Kiswahili/Arabic is an advantage).
  • Valid driving license and knowledge of regional transport routes.
