Position Summary
The Pavement & Geotechnical Engineer will lead pavement and geotechnical engineering activities for road construction projects. The position will assess subgrade and soil conditions, pavement materials, pavement performance, laboratory and field test results, and construction quality to support durable and technically sound road infrastructure.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
1. Geotechnical Investigation
· Plan and review geotechnical investigations along the road corridor.
· Assess soil profiles, subgrade conditions, borrow materials, aggregates, and construction material sources.
· Review boreholes, trial pits, field tests, laboratory results, and geotechnical reports.
2. Pavement Engineering
· Review and develop pavement design and pavement layer requirements based on traffic, subgrade, materials, and project standards.
· Assess pavement performance and recommend appropriate rehabilitation or improvement measures where required.
· Review pavement thickness, material specifications, and construction methodology.
3. Materials and Quality Control
· Monitor and review testing of soil, aggregates, asphalt, and pavement materials.
· Verify compliance of materials and construction works with approved specifications.
· Investigate pavement and subgrade failures and recommend corrective measures.
4. Construction Support and Reporting
· Provide technical supervision for earthworks, subgrade, sub-base, base course, and pavement construction.
· Coordinate with highway engineers, laboratories, contractors, and consultants.
· Prepare technical assessments, recommendations, and reports.
About You
Education
· Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Pavement Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification is an advantage.
Experience
· Minimum 10 years of professional experience in geotechnical and pavement engineering, with significant road/highway project experience.
· Strong experience in subgrade assessment, pavement design, soil and aggregate testing, borrow material evaluation, and road construction quality control.
· Experience with major road projects and geotechnical/material laboratories is preferred.
