Position Summary:
The Finance & Records Keeper is responsible for the accurate financial management and record-keeping of gold purchasing, smelting operations, and sales. This role ensures full traceability of all gold transactions, maintains tax compliance with URA, and upholds Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations. The officer tracks inventory from intake to final bar/bullion, reconciles mass balances, and prepares financial reports for management and regulatory authorities.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
· Record all gold purchases, sales, and movements in the accounting system.
· Reconcile physical gold inventory vs. records daily/monthly; investigate discrepancies.
· Prepare financial statements, manage cash flow, and process payroll.
· Ensure URA tax compliance (VAT, withholding tax) and file regulatory reports (Bank of Uganda, FIA).
· Maintain supplier/customer KYC documents and contracts.
· Support audits, enforce internal controls, and secure all records. Perform any additional related tasks as assigned by supervisors or management.
Education & Experience:
· High Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (from a recognized university)
· At least 2–3 years experience in financial record-keeping, preferably in gold trading.
· Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Tally, or Sage) -Knowledge of Ugandan tax laws (URA compliance, VAT, withholding tax)
· Understanding of gold trading regulations (Bank of Uganda requirements, AML/KYC)
· Strong inventory and stock reconciliation skills (tracking gold in/out)

Working Conditions:
· Environment: This role is 100% based in an industrial processing plant or gold room.
· Work is performed near high-temperature furnaces (exceeding 1,000°C/1,800°F) and involves exposure to molten metal, heavy equipment, dust, and chemicals.
· Schedule: Full-time station employment and off station where necessary.
