Job Summary

To plan, manage, and oversee all logistics and transport operations across Mombasa, Uganda, and South Sudan to ensure timely, efficient, and cost-effective movement of cargo and fleet coordination. The position ensures compliance with cross-border transport regulations and optimizes service delivery to clients throughout the East African logistics corridor.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute regional logistics strategies supporting company goals.
  • Oversee cross-border transport operations linking Mombasa Port, Uganda transit hubs, and South Sudan destinations.
  • Coordinate import/export clearance, fleet allocation, and cargo tracking.
  • Maintain compliance with customs, transit, and safety regulations across all jurisdictions.
  • Supervise transport scheduling, dispatching, and routing of trucks and cargo convoys.
  • Monitor performance of fleet and drivers to ensure delivery timelines and maintenancestandards.
  • Approve trip plans, budgets, and route optimization measures.
  • Ensure safe transport of goods, proper documentation, and proof of delivery (POD) compliance.
  • Liaise with customs, port, and border officials at Mombasa, Malaba, Elegu, and Nimule.
  • Represent GS Logistics in official meetings with authorities (Port, URA, SSCS, Police, Immigration).
  • Oversee liaison offices at the borders to ensure efficient cargo clearance and document flow.
  • Manage fleet utilization, maintenance schedules, and insurance compliance.
  • Supervise procurement of spare parts, fuel monitoring, and cost control.
  • Maintain up-to-date vehicle records, logbooks, and service reports.
  • Prepare and manage regional logistics and transport budgets.
  • Track operational costs and implement cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Ensure transparent accounting for fuel, maintenance, and per diem allowances
  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate performance of logistics teams across all stations.
  • Ensure proper staffing, capacity building, and performance appraisals.
  • Maintain clear communication channels between Juba HQ and field offices
  • Produce weekly and monthly logistics performance reports.
  • Maintain transport KPIs (truck turnaround time, cost per trip, delivery accuracy).
  • Use tracking software and ERP systems for fleet visibility and data reporting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in regional logistics or cross-border transport management.
  • Professional certification (CILT, FIATA, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of customs procedures in Kenya, Uganda, and South Sudan.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and transport tracking systems (Odoo, Cargo Wise, or similar).
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of Kiswahili and Arabic is an added advantage.
