Position Summary
The Highway Engineer will lead and coordinate highway engineering activities for road construction projects, including road alignment, geometric design, earthworks, drainage coordination, pavement interfaces, construction supervision, quality control, and technical problem solving. The position will ensure that road works are executed in accordance with approved designs, specifications, contract requirements, applicable standards, quality requirements, and project schedules.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
1. Highway Engineering and Design
· Review and develop highway alignment, horizontal and vertical profiles, cross-sections, junctions, and road geometry.
· Review design drawings, specifications, quantities, and technical documents for road works.
· Coordinate highway design with pavement, geotechnical, hydrology, structures, survey, environmental, and social requirements.
2. Construction Supervision
· Supervise road formation, earthworks, subgrade, drainage, pavement, shoulders, and ancillary road works.
· Monitor contractor activities and ensure compliance with approved drawings, method statements, specifications, and work programs.
· Identify technical problems on site and provide practical engineering solutions.
3. Quality, Progress and Technical Control
· Monitor workmanship, materials, testing, and construction quality.
· Review inspection requests, test results, site records, and technical submissions.
· Monitor progress and support the Project Manager in resolving delays, variations, and technical issues.
4. Coordination and Reporting
· Coordinate with contractors, consultants, surveyors, laboratory teams, and other project disciplines.
· Prepare technical reports, quantity, technical document, geometrical, templet and other drawing, site instructions, progress inputs, and engineering recommendations.
· Support measurement, variation assessment, claims review, and as-built documentation.
About You
Education
· Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant professional certification is an advantage.
Experience
· Minimum 10 years of progressive professional experience in highway/road construction and engineering.
· Demonstrated experience on major road, highway, or infrastructure projects, preferably involving earthworks, drainage, pavement, and structures.
· Strong experience in construction supervision, technical review, quality control, and contractor coordination.
