Position Summary

The Geologist General Manager is responsible for leading and managing all geological operations, exploration activities, and resource development projects of the Group. The role ensures effective planning, execution, and monitoring of geological programs to support business growth, resource sustainability, and compliance with industry standards, environmental regulations, and company strategic objectives. The position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and operational management skills to oversee multidisciplinary teams and large-scale geological initiatives.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

1. Geological Operations Management

·         Lead and oversee all geological exploration, mapping, and resource evaluation activities.

·         Develop and implement geological strategies aligned with company objectives.

·         Supervise field operations, including drilling, sampling, and data collection.

·         Ensure geological activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.

2. Technical Leadership

·         Provide expert geological guidance for exploration and development projects.

·         Review geological reports, feasibility studies, and resource estimations.

·         Introduce modern geological techniques, technologies, and best practices.

·         Resolve complex geological and operational challenges.

3. Resource Planning & Development

·         Lead mineral and resource identification, evaluation, and reserve estimation.

·         Develop long-term geological exploration and development plans.

·         Support project feasibility, budgeting, and investment decisions.

·         Monitor resource utilization and sustainability strategies.

4. Quality Assurance & Compliance

·         Ensure geological work meets international standards and regulatory requirements.

·         Maintain accurate geological data, reports, and documentation.

·         Ensure compliance with environmental policies and sustainable practices.

·         Conduct audits and risk assessments for geological operations.

 

5. Project Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement

·         Coordinate with engineering, environmental, and operational teams.

·         Liaise with government authorities, partners, and consultants.

·         Monitor project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.

·         Provide regular progress updates to executive management.

6. Health, Safety & Environmental Management

·         Promote a strong safety culture across all geological operations.

·         Ensure adherence to occupational health and environmental standards.

·         Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.

·         Support environmental impact assessments and rehabilitation programs.

7. Leadership & Capacity Development

·         Lead, mentor, and develop geological teams and technical staff.

·         Build strong teamwork and a performance-driven work culture.

·         Support training, knowledge transfer, and professional development initiatives.

·         Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the geological department.

About You

Education

·         Master’s / Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, Mining Geology, or related field.

·         Professional geological certification or membership is preferred.

Experience

·         Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in geological exploration, resource development, or mining operations.

·         Proven experience in senior leadership or general management roles.

·         Strong background in project management, strategic planning, and team leadership.
