Position Summary

The Construction Engineer will supervise and coordinate road construction activities to ensure that works are executed according to approved drawings, technical specifications, method statements, quality requirements, safety requirements, and project schedules. The position will coordinate site teams and contractors and provide technical support throughout construction.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

1. Construction Supervision

·        Supervise earthworks, drainage, subgrade, pavement, structures, shoulders, road furniture, and ancillary road works.

·        Ensure construction activities are carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and work programs.

·        Coordinate daily construction activities and ensure proper sequencing of works.

·        Monitor contractor performance and construction methods.

2. Technical and Quality Control

·        Inspect workmanship, materials, construction methods, and completed works.

·        Review inspection requests, testing requirements, site records, and technical submissions.

·        Identify technical deficiencies and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

·        Coordinate with material engineers and laboratories to verify construction quality.

3. Progress and Resource Management

·        Monitor daily and weekly construction progress against the approved program.

·        Identify delays, resource constraints, access problems, and other construction risks.

·        Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractor activities with the site teams.

·        Provide progress information and recommendations to the Project Manager.

4. Site Coordination

·        Coordinate with Highway, Site, Materials, Survey, Hydrology, Structural, and other engineering teams.

·        Coordinate with the Contractor and Consultant on construction activities and technical issues.

·        Support resolution of site problems and ensure timely implementation of approved solutions.

·        Participate in site meetings and technical coordination meetings.

5. Reporting and Documentation

·        Prepare construction progress inputs and technical reports.

·        Maintain inspection records, site instructions, test records, work completion records, and as-built information.

·        Support measurement, variation assessment, claims, and project completion documentation.

·        Provide regular updates on construction progress, quality, and technical issues.

About You

Education

·        Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

·        Minimum 10 years of progressive professional experience in road/highway construction.

·        Demonstrated experience supervising major road works including earthworks, drainage, subgrade, pavement, and structures.

·    Strong experience in construction supervision, quality control, contractor coordination, progress monitoring, and technical problem solving.
